Differences between nitrogen cabinets and dry cabinets in LED packaging

Nitrogen cabinets (N2 dry cabinets) and moisture-proof cabinets (electronic dry cabinets) both control moisture in LED packaging, but dry cabinets only control humidity while N2 cabinets also limit oxidation. Dry cabinets can reach below 5%RH, which ordinary N2 cabinets cannot; pairing should follow actual need.

1. Moisture control: N2 cabinets are filled with nitrogen from bottled liquid N2 or an N2 generator; lowest humidity is about 15%RH, so ordinary N2 cabinets rarely go below 10%RH. They displace oxygen to form an inert shield against wafer/IC/LED oxidation. Dry cabinets remove water molecules to the outside and can control below 5%RH. So dry cabinets truly control humidity; N2 cabinets mainly inherit gas humidity - if the source is wet or the generator fails, chamber RH can spike toward 50%.

2. Anti-oxidation: N2 cabinets use inert gas to displace oxygen so oxidation is hard at room temperature; products are usually vacuum-packed against moisture too. Dry cabinets only control humidity, not oxygen (near ambient O2), so oxidation remains easy. Thus N2 cabinets can prevent oxidation; dry cabinets cannot.

In LED packaging, choose by process: for moisture only, pick N2 or dry cabinet by RH target - dry cabinets are safer, ideally aided by N2 to speed drying; for strict RH use a dry cabinet. For anti-oxidation use an N2 cabinet. For both, combine them or use a moisture-controlled N2 cabinet.
